Rosettes

So, a few weeks ago I purchased the new Martha Stewart scoring board. It was reasonably priced and I had a coupon. I thought that it would speed up my time when making handmade boxes and invitations; plus it came with instructions for making envelopes other boxes, too. As a bonus I was also given instructions for making the rosettes that were featured on the packaging.

Making those rosettes is really addictive. They're quick and easy to make and you can create all different effects based on the paper that you use. Use striped paper
oriented horizontally to create a bullseye effect and stripes oriented vertically to create a star burst effect. Using irregular patterns can result in some interesting shapes on your rosette, too. I filled a shadow box with some of my favorites and love the way that it turned out. It hangs over my workspace for colorful inspiration.

My daughter and I will be starting a rosette project for her room soon- a giant mobile constructed from rosettes. She's really excited and I'm thinking it'll be super cool!

Has anyone else found a creative use for rosettes?
